Philippine Aircraft Registry Call Signs

Since the establishment of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) all member countries should have and bear their national aircraft call signs. Examples are N for the USA, PK for Indonesia, JA for Japan, F for France, VH for Australia, etc. The Philippines' registry call sign is RP. However, there are variations designating the actual ownership of aircraft.

  • RP-C 1234 for example is for all civil, corporate and commercial operators.
  • RP-1234 is for all government aircraft.
  • RP-X is for experimental aircraft and
  • RP-S is for special types of aircraft like kit planes.

The Philippine military does not have such registry call signs. Instead they just use numbers normally placed on the aircraft tail section. Just some food for thoughts for you aviation buffs!
