Fish Run

While writing about fish in one of my blogs, I couldn't help but give praise to our pilots who do daily fish runs from various provinces, weather permitting. Most of the fresh fish come from Antique, Capiz, Mindoro, Iloilo, Palawan and General Santos City in Mindanao. These gallant pilots leave before day break and do 2-3 more sorties each day. They are met by trucks upon arrival at the Manila Domestic Airport for cargo pick up then take off again. Next time you go to market and see fresh fish for sale rest assured most of these fish & seafood were brought in by plane. The business is a very lucrative one. All you need is a reliable aircraft with a large cargo capacity, an intrepid pilot and a good provincial supplier. No wonder these brave pilots have a common battle cry -- NO PLANE, NO GAIN!
